These are exciting times in the field of wireless research. No longer do we have to make the case for why wireless communications is relevant. Wireless communications now affects all our lives in multiple ways, the common examples being cellular phones, wireless local area networks, back haul microwave links, etc. Wireless technology is expanding at a rapid pace, and is now finding several more applications such as in factory automation, wireless sensor networks, vehicular communication, etc.

The key goal of my work is to analyze, design, and optimize wireless systems. Thus, the research, while mathematical in nature, is very motivated by practical problems.

The following is a list of problems we are currently working on by design or by accident:

Low complexity antenna selection in wireless systems

 

3GPP long term evolution (LTE) and high speed packet access (HSPA) system optimization and analysis

 

Interference modeling in infrastructure-based and wireless ad hoc networks
